Automator Actions in OSX

Take the time to learn Automator in OSX. You’ll need about half an hour! Once you have the grasp of the basics you can start creating scripts and app’s that will speed up those repetitive tasks. You can then expand on these and download more complicated scripts to add to your work flow. This can take all the hassle out of your everyday tasks.

For example: once I have my Indesign document signed off and I’ve flight checked it, I then need to do several things. Collect the artwork, create low-res PDF’s, compress the collected files and then send them to my FTP server for my printer to download. With a set of predetermined scripts, I can do all this with one simple drag and drop of my Indesign file.

Make better use of your time and don’t waste it.
